President Report to the Cluster

North Melbourne RC started this rotary year with 13 members and with a combined in person Zoom Changeover.

It was a very successful event but the last time we have met in person as a club.

Our members agreed to still meet weekly in zoom mode. We have had speakers every meeting and because we had a bit of a war chest we have still been able to make a number of donations to good causes.

Our club has also been active in Lili Teichman's Cross Cluster committee and the District Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee.

  • Because of our President-elect, Sainab Sheik's contacts in our area we have been able to accept and distribute over 1000 packets of Forameal to people in need and we have had very positive feedback from it. We are currently arranging another delivery for Christmas

  • We have provided gifts and activities for the homeless staying at Ozanam's house on a monthly basis. We have also arranged to assist them with their upcoming Christmas Lunch for their residents.

  • We have had a high level of participation in the Rotary Walk with Us Against Polio Walk and raised well over $3,000.00.

  • We have again been successful in securing a district year 11 & 12 Scholarship grant for $1,000 a year for 2 years and have an arrangement with a past member for other scholarships amounting to over $2,000.00 per year to also be provided in addition to that.

  • Our members have been buoyed by increasing our membership by induction of Ida Whiteman as a member. Ida is a past Rotary global Scholarship winner from our district with our club as her sponsor and we are now looking forward to using her great skills as much as she is able to offer us.

  • We have had an article in every quarterly issue of the local award-winning publication of the North West Melbourne News so we are getting the name of Rotary out in the community.

  • Lastly, this weekend our club is hosting a District Centenary project being the International Zoom MUNA Assembly. We have 16 teams including 3 international teams. It starts on Saturday and Sunday between 1.00 pm and 5.20 pm and so I hope everyone will view the Livestream via the E Club Facebook page.

Before I close I would really like to thank my small band of members for being so supportive to me so far during my term in office. I really appreciate it and look forward to the rest of the year ahead.

In closing, I want to wish our District Governor, Philip Archer, and his family an enjoyable and healthy Christmas and I extend the same Christmas wishes to our AG, Kate Strain, my fellow cluster presidents, all my own members, and all the cluster members. I look forward to working with you all during the rest of our Rotary Year
