What's Happened During the Week???

We started the week with a zoom meeting with guest speaker Catlin Healy from Destiny Rescue who updated us on the work they are doing and some of the amazing rescues. some of her stories and examples were quite moving.

The next day we did the BBQ for Ames Australia Christmas function at the TH Westfield Reserve in Clifton Hill.

Their numbers were below what they had planned for but it was still a very nice event and our members did a great job with the BBQ. We had James & Cheryl, Sainab & Khalid, Ted, Larry, Herbson, Manjula, George, Kayla & Yacquub, and Andrew got there at the end to help pack up. Judy ended up in lockdown waiting for a negative Covid result that came at the end of the BBQ. That problem actually accounted for why a lot of the Ames people couldn't make it.

Then the next day Judy and I represented the Club at the Kensington Town Hall where the Somalian Women's Development Association had an information evening about Covid and made some presentations our Club received one for the help we have given them particularly during the lockdown period. (Kate Strain and I got one too)

Last night Judy and I attended the Southbank Rotary Club Xmas party at the Seafarer's Mission in Docklands.

It was good to catch up with the old friends we have at that club as well as our AG Murray Anderson and his wife Lindy.

What's coming up???

Thursday 16th December 2021 - 7.00 pm

At last it's arrived. Our own Club Christmas dinner tomorrow. Thursday 16th December 2021 - 7.00 pm at the Mercure Hotel, Cnr Harker St and Flemington Rd North Melbourne

We have a very good contingent from Ames Australia and it will be great for us to share the evening with them and make them feel part of the family of Rotary. The River Nile School is not able to attend so we also have a small contingent from SWDA as well.

We have closed our bookings now and we have ended up with 37 people attending so it should be a great night.

Rimern

We have finished our volunteering for this year and the committee is very appreciative to our members that have done such a great job. We have 1 shift scheduled for January 2022 on Saturday morning (10.00 am to 1.00 pm) on the 15th January 2022. So if anyone is available to do a shift that day please contact Judy or me.

Happy New Year
