Big Weekend No. 2 is here !!!!!!!!!!!!!
ELECTION BBQ
We now have the date and it is on Saturday 21st May 2022 and it will be at the North Melbourne Primary School. We have made contact with the school principal, Sarah Nightingale and she has confirmed her agreement for us to run this BBQ, naturally on the basis of sharing the profits with the school.
This is only 9 days from tomorrow's meeting and it basically goes all day while the polling booths are open between 8.00 am and 6.00 pm. As you would imagine in order to achieve this we need a lot of volunteers. We are probably going to need volunteers from 7.00 am to 7.00 pm and we know a lot of people won't be able to do a full shift but the reality is we will need a core of people that will do the whole day shift.
Address: North Melbourne Primary School - 210 Errol St, North Melbourne
METRO TUNNEL BBQ No. 2
This is on the next day after the election BBQ on Sunday 22nd May 2022.
This one isn't quite as onerous as instead of 8.00 am to 6.00 pm it is 8.00 am to 3.00 pm plus everything will be supplied so we just need to show up. We can do the same 3 shift options for this too but the shifts can be a bit shorter but we really prefer people that can do the whole day.
Please contact me if you are available for any of these other BBQs at page@ghp.biz
Address: Arden Station Cnr Laurens St, &, Barwise St, North Melbourne
In case you didn't look at the roster emailed out yesterday here it is again.
MUNA is on the weekend of the 18th and 19th of June 2022 and our club is the host club. It is being held at our home base of the Mercure Hotel, North Melbourne. We will need 4 or 5 volunteers on that weekend and I can assure anyone thinking about it that it is a really enjoyable weekend and it is a great experience to watch these young students debate United Nations resolutions with such enthusiasm. I recommend you get involved.
Last Week's Meeting Thursday 12th May 2022
Last week's meeting was exceptional. As much as we loved to watch the presentation our President Sainab Sheikh presented to us which included some great images of the upgraded Hospital in Gedo, Somalia, we just had such a great meeting we kept chatting away on reviewing the amazing weekend before and planning for this weekend coming that we really kept Sainab waiting before she got to make her presentation.
We had 2 future members attending as well as Kate Strain who is such a welcome visitor to our club. One future member was Roman Korchev who after watching the great concert we did almost immediately decided he wanted to be part of our club. The other was Reshma Manandhar who is planning to join with Lucia Halliburton as part of Corporate Membership from Ames.
