Rotary Theme: October

Iimage

Last week we had our District Governor attended our club as his official visit. Through the wonders of Zoom, he was in Ballarat getting to bond with his mother-in-law. Also, attending was a friend of our President in Somalia and a Rotarian in Ghana and South Africa as well as a couple of local North Melbourne residents.

His presentation wasn't high tech but he did have 3 slides to talk to and his casual but informative style was very effective especially for the visiting Non-Rotarians who really appreciated getting a better perspective of the broad structure of the organization in particular how it is divided into Districts. The other important message was that part of our District's role is to assist clubs in getting the projects off the ground.

Help Rotary End Polio

Well, we are now right into October so the Walk with Us End Polio campaign is now well underway. Our club's team is now off and running (walking really). As you can see we have raised $236.00 so far.

These are my team members. Of course, I'm on the team too. So far our biggest donor is Andrew Georgiou but we would love to have more. Please don't leave any of our team on zero donations. All Australian donations over $2.00 are tax deductible. Individuals, Rotary clubs, and Districts will be recognised and credited for their donations.

Register to walk now and donate at www.rotarywalkwithus.org

This site has information on the event and the Global program to eradicate Polio.

You can support a local Rotarian (or team) by donating to (Name of walker/club team) via (insert Walkwithus personal/team link). Be a part of history and donate today. Your gift will get us closer to the finish line.  Please just log on and either join the walk or donate to our team.

Note, you do not need to be a Rotarian to participate.

RIMERN    (Rotary Inner Melbourne Emergency Relief Network)

The Glenferrie Rotary Club has now also joined the network so we now have 14 rotary clubs involved.

Our club has committed to assist with 4 volunteers on a fortnightly basis every second Saturday afternoon  (1.00 pm to 4.00 pm) from the 16th October onwards. So if we can get 8 people to be on our volunteer team then we would only have to volunteer once every 4 weeks. So far we have already had me, Judy, Sainab, Ted, and Larry volunteer so hopefully, we will all stay in the team.

Please note Volunteers do not need to be Rotarians. Whilst we are in lockdown all volunteers will be provided with a Covid Safe Worker's Permit.
